A Spec Design
The GoodMarket app began as an exploration into the idea of local grocery delivery. The year 2020 being what it is, I’ve been using grocery delivery and pickup apps several times a week. For this safety, though, I have to dig through an enormous, bloated interface that hides it’s products behind at least 2 clicks at any given point.
I wanted there to be something better.
I began with a few rounds of user interviews and card sorts to get a sense of what people wanted and where.
Because small local stores don’t have the sprawling product collections that big brands like Kroger have, keeping as much available above the break as possible allows shoppers to quickly access what they need.
Accidentally scheduling for the wrong time or wrong day is something I really wanted to make sure I avoided. No one wants a box of perishables sitting on their porch for hours when they’re not home. So I made the calendar unusually large and visual, and I left a lot of space around the time selection. No more getting lost in a drop down full of numbers! This should help users stay on top of exactly when their deliveries come.
